We had a great day of learning fun in the Bale Tau garden with the local kids from the area, getting our hands dirty and learning about organic permaculture gardening techniques.
We started off by transferring seedlings from the nursery into the garden – chillies, sweet potatoes and some flowers – before learning about simple organic techniques to nurture the plants, using completely natural resources: compost for a sterilizer and nimba oil as a pesticide. No need for nasty chemicals!
Once the plants are established, the kids will be able to harvest the produce and take it home: when you feed the soil, you can also feed the people 🙂
The kids had a great time and have asked to come back and do it again – which we will happily oblige.
